National Handloom Day, observed on August 7, celebrates India’s rich handloom heritage and the craftsmanship of weavers across the nation. The day aims to promote the use of handloom products and support the livelihoods of the weaving community. Amrita Vidyalayam, Pathanamthitta, commemorated National Handloom Day on August 7, 2025, to honour India’s vibrant cultural heritage and the invaluable contribution of handlooms to the nation’s identity.
As part of the celebrations, Grade 7 students visited the Elanthoor Khadi Board, where they gained hands-on experience of the weaving process and interacted with skilled artisans. The students also prepared an informative bulletin board showcasing diverse handloom traditions from across India. The celebration fostered awareness of the significance of handlooms, encouraged appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, and provided students with a meaningful connection to India’s weaving heritage.
