Amrita Vidyalayam commemorated Hiroshima Day on August 6th with a series of reflective activities to honour the memory of those affected by the atomic bombing and to inspire peace among students.
The programme commenced with a prayer that set a solemn tone. This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by Sivapriya, who highlighted the purpose of the day. A moving speech by Reshnu Ma’am offered deeper insight into the horrors of war and the need for compassion in today’s world.
To further educate students, Ameya delivered a well-researched speech about Hiroshima, covering the historical background and its aftermath. A PPT presentation and short film followed, allowing students to visually engage with the events of 1945.
At the end, Akshara expressed gratitude through a heartfelt vote of thanks. As a final tribute, students assembled in the school courtyard and released paper cranes, honouring Sadako Sasaki and spreading a message of peace and hope.
The programme served as a reminder that peace is a choice—and one worth making.
